Hello everyone. Two weeks from today, I will begin my hike of the Camino de Santiago. I will be walking the Camino del Norte trail from San Sebastian to Bilbao. Then I will pick up the Camino Frances in Sarria and finish at the Santiago de Compostella in Santiago.
I have dreamed of doing this for several years now. A friend of mine did this with her husband when they retired and I always thought it would be the perfect way to begin a new chapter of life.
Jackie Dumoit at HikeTheWay is handling the logistics of my trip by arranging my lodgings and providing moral support. Yes, I know it's probably more "authentic" to stay in albergues, but honestly, I really want a good bed and a bathroom at the end of each day! Jackie has also given me very good advice on important things such as shoes!
Right now, I'm trying to put together the essentials that I will carry each day, versus what I will keep in my luggage. I'm also training by walking on a treadmill for an hour each day wearing my pack. I wish my tablet weren't so heavy, but I don't think I can do the walk without it!
