A Long, Cold Winter
Even though we have had a mild winter here in Santa Fe, it has been a challenging one for me. Shortly after I returned from Japan, my husband became critically ill. Since then, he has been hospitalized several times and is now back home on the mend. As you might imagine, this has turned our lives completely upside down and inside out. We have had to reexamine our expectations for the future as well as day to day living. My priorities have shifted dramatically, and I’m sorry to say, creating and writing about art wasn’t even on the top 10 list during this time. He is doing much better now, thanks to caring medical professionals and the prayers of family and friends. But we have a long way to go to get him back to where he was, and we realize that that may not be possible. I know now how fragile one’s physical and mental health is and how quickly both can disappear. Every day is now a gift to be cherished.
