Having sold most of my work at the Littleton Affordable Arts Festival, I am now hard at “work” creating new things for my fall shows. I hate to call this “work” because it is so satisfying to me. I won’t say it’s easy or relaxing, but working on new paintings stretches me in places where I need stretching!
I am very aware that my style has undergone a lot of change in the last year. And I am leaning into it. I am attempting things that I never would have thought of before. I am heading to the abstract, but I hope I can still keep a foot (or a toenail) in the representational world. An artist friend noted that I was now capturing the spirit of a place rather than focusing on its appearance. I was glad to hear that, as that is exactly what I want to do.
Here’s my latest, based on a study I did in Iceland:
“Watching the Watchers”
Cold wax medium with oil
